A Documentary Wedding at Vieni Estate Winery | Niagara Wedding Photographer

Vieni Estates Winery, just outside Niagara, was the backdrop for a day that brought together two families into one — a second wedding for both the bride and groom, each bringing two pre-teen kids into the mix. Rather than a traditional wedding party, the couple chose their own children to stand up with them, a simple and fitting nod to what the day was really about.

The morning started at home, where the bride got ready surrounded by her daughters and close friends — hair, makeup, and a few celebratory drinks to set the tone. From there I headed to the groom's side, tucked away in the "wine cave" at Vieni Estates, where the guys took their time getting ready over drinks and a proper Scotch tasting in honour of the groom's Scottish roots.

I'd actually met the bride and groom before, at their engagement session at Riverwood Conservancy — a beautiful, quiet spot for photos and something included in every Slate + Flash wedding package. It's one of my favourite parts of the process: getting to know a couple before the wedding day so that by the time it arrives, there's already a comfortable familiarity between us.

The ceremony had its own kind of magic, with the groom's brother stepping in as both officiant and emcee for the day — a combination that kept the laughs coming from the vows straight through to the speeches. The kids stood up front as the wedding party, and the whole thing unfolded exactly the way a blended family celebration should: warm, easy, and full of genuine joy.

The day itself was beautiful from start to finish, and as evening settled in, the couple slipped away for a few minutes among the vines at sunset. The golden light through the rows was the perfect quiet moment before heading back to join their family and friends for the rest of the celebration.

To this couple: thank you for welcoming me into such a meaningful day. Watching two families come together, with your kids right there beside you, was genuinely special to witness — and I'm so grateful I got to capture it.

If you're planning a wedding in Niagara, Toronto, or anywhere across Southern Ontario and you want photography that captures your day as it naturally unfolds, I'd love to connect and hear your story.
