About Your Session

Slate + Flash creates artful, documentary-style photography for couples, weddings, and creative portraits. Sessions include one photographer, thoughtful direction when needed, and a carefully curated gallery of professionally edited digital images to download and enjoy.

Payment & Booking

A 50% retainer is required to reserve your date. This retainer is non-refundable and applied toward your final balance. Remaining balances are due as outlined in your contract (prior to the event for weddings, upon delivery for most sessions).

Rescheduling & Postponements

Life happens — weather shifts, travel changes, nerves kick in. Rescheduling can typically be accommodated subject to availability. Weddings and events may require a new date within a specified window, as outlined in the contract.

Privacy & Image Use

You always have the option to opt out of having your images shared online. If you prefer faces to be obscured or certain images withheld from public use, just let us know. All privacy preferences are respected.

Copyright & Usage

Slate + Flash retains copyright to all images. Clients receive a personal-use license to download, print, and share their photographs with friends and family. Commercial use (including brand partnerships, advertising, or publication) requires written permission and may include licensing fees.

RAW or unedited files are not provided, as they represent unfinished creative work.

Delivery & File Storage

Portrait and couples galleries are typically delivered within 5 business days. Wedding galleries are typically delivered within 2 weeks. Your online gallery remains active for 12 months. Please download and back up your images during this period — files are not guaranteed to be archived beyond that timeframe.

Editing & Artistic Style

Final images are professionally edited in the signature Slate + Flash style you see on the website. Not every image taken will be delivered — only the strongest work that best tells the story.

Prints, Albums & Wall Art

Your gallery includes access to an integrated online store offering locally sourced prints, albums, and framed artwork. These products are crafted through trusted Canadian print labs and makers to ensure quality and fast turnaround. No third-party platforms required.

Safety & Responsibility

During sessions, couples and families are responsible for their own safety and that of children or pets. For weddings, Slate + Flash works respectfully within venue rules, officiant guidelines, and any restrictions around ceremony coverage.

Permits & Venue Access

Clients are responsible for obtaining any permits, permissions, or venue clearances required for photography. Lack of permission may limit coverage and Slate + Flash cannot be held liable for restrictions imposed by officiants, venues, or municipalities.

Failure to Perform

In the unlikely event Slate + Flash cannot perform due to illness, accident, or unforeseen circumstances, all fees will be refunded. Liability is limited to the amount paid by the client. A qualified substitute may be offered depending on circumstance and availability.
