Intimate Wedding at Edwards Gardens | Toronto WEDDING Photographer

Some weddings take a year of planning and a guest list in the hundreds. This one was the opposite — a short, sweet ceremony surrounded by the people who mattered most, tucked under the willows at Edwards Gardens. And it was exactly what the couple wanted.

The ceremony itself was simple: an officiant, immediate family gathered close, and two people who clearly just wanted to get married without any of the extra noise. Under the shade of a huge willow tree, next to the stream, with the dog in attendance, they exchanged rings and signed their marriage certificate on each other’s backs. No big production, no long program — just the important part, done right.

Toronto gave them a gift of a day for it. Bright blue skies, dappled light through the trees, and warm enough for the groom to keep it casual in a plain white tee and suspenders while the bride carried a simple bouquet. After the ceremony, we gathered the family for portraits in the gardens before stealing away with the newlyweds for some quiet couple's photos among the willows and gardens Edwards is known for.

The whole day had this unhurried, sunlit ease to it — hugs from happy guests, a very excited couple, and a "Just Married" sign and balloons waiting for them when they returned to their quirky little truck for the drive off. Short and sweet, exactly as planned.

Congratulations to this wonderful couple — here's to a lifetime of days this good.
