Hot Air Balloon Proposal in Kitchener | Toronto Proposal Photographer
Some proposals happen on a beach, some at sunset, and some in the quiet of a snowy afternoon. This one happened inside a hot air balloon glowing like a stained-glass window at golden hour — and it might be one of the most epic proposals I've ever documented.
He'd been planning it for a while, and she had no idea. As the balloon inflated in a field just outside Kitchener, the fabric caught the evening light in a wash of purple, orange, and gold, and the two of them stepped inside for what she thought was a quick photo op. Instead, he got down on one knee right there inside the balloon, ring box in hand, and the moment she realized what was happening is written all over her face — hand on her chest, laughing through the shock, completely stunned.
She said yes, of course. And then the celebration kept going — literally up in the air. The newly engaged couple climbed into the basket for a private sunset balloon ride, floating above the fields and farmhouses of the countryside while we followed along in the chase vehicles below, photographing along the way at a few strategic spots. They touched down closer to a nearby house than anyone expected — the homeowners came out to see what was happening and ended up thrilled to be part of the story, laughing along with the whole thing.
We wrapped the evening the way it deserved: golden light fading into a deep blue dusk, a toast of champagne, and a few quiet portraits of the two of them silhouetted against the sky before the drive back to Toronto. Windmills, wide open fields, and a couple who just got engaged in a hot air balloon — it doesn't get much more cinematic than this.
Huge congratulations to this wonderful couple. Here's to the next chapter.
