How Much Does a Wedding Photographer Cost in Toronto? | Toronto Wedding Photographer
TL;DR: Wedding photography in Toronto typically runs from about $2,500 to $11,000 and up, and the biggest factor is how many hours you book. My wedding packages start at $1,950 plus HST for four hours of coverage and scale up from there. Every package includes a 2-hour engagement shoot (a $650 value), and if I photographed your proposal, I'll credit 50% of that shoot toward your wedding.
Almost every couple asks about cost in the first few messages, and that's completely fair. It's one of the biggest decisions in your budget, and the pricing out there can be hard to compare. Two photographers can both say "wedding photography" and be offering very different things.
The range is wide because the wedding day is only part of the job. For every hour I'm photographing, there are hours of work behind it: planning with you beforehand, sorting through thousands of frames, editing, and building your gallery. A photographer who charges more is usually charging for that time, plus the experience that lets them handle bad light, tight timelines, and surprises without missing the moment.
The biggest factor in the price is hours of coverage. After that, it's whether a second photographer is included, how much editing and delivery is involved, and whether prints or albums are part of the package. Travel can add to the total if your wedding is outside the city.
My wedding packages start at $1,950 plus HST for four hours, and they scale with the coverage you need. Four hours works well for a smaller wedding, an elopement, or a day with a tight schedule: the ceremony, family photos, and a stretch of portraits. If you want the full story of the day, from getting ready through the first dance, you'll likely want more time, and the price grows with each hour you add. You can see what's included on the Services page.
Every wedding package also includes a 2-hour engagement shoot, which would be $650 on its own. It's a low-pressure way to get comfortable in front of the camera and see how I work, and you'll leave with photos for your save-the-dates or wedding website.
If you used Slate and Flash for your proposal, I'll credit 50% of the cost of the proposal shoot toward your wedding. The moment you got engaged is part of the story, and it seemed right that it counts toward the rest of it.
When you're comparing quotes, look at what's inside each one, not just the total. Ask whether HST is included, how many hours are covered, how many photographers will be there, how long you'll wait for your gallery, whether an engagement shoot is included, and whether you have printing rights. A lower price with fewer hours and no engagement session can end up costing you more than it saves.
If you're stretching your budget, protect the hours before anything else. You can add an album or prints after the wedding, but you can't add coverage once the day has passed. Documentary coverage also helps your budget go further, because less of your day is spent posing and more of it is spent enjoying what you've paid for.
I take on fewer than ten weddings a year, so dates do fill up. If you'd like to talk through your budget and what would work best for your day, I'm happy to be straight with you about what's realistic. You can get in touch here.
